Housing Rights
All tenants have basic rights in finding a home to rent, including the freedom from discrimination and harassment.
When applying to rent housing, an applicant has the right to be free from discrimination of all types, including that based on race, national origin, familial status (having children), gender, disability or religion.
Once you have found a home, you have the right to be free from discrimination in the amount of rent you pay and in the other terms and conditions of your tenancy. State and Federal laws also prohibit harassment.
At Salinas Law Group, we are committed to protecting your rights as a tenant or housing applicant, including the following:
- Your right to be free from discrimination and harassment of all types, including race discrimination, disability discrimination and sexual harassment;
- Your right to be free from wrongful eviction; and
- Your right to be free from retaliation for complaining to or about your landlord;
We have represented clients in lawsuits against all types of landlords, large and small.
